Privacy
Privacy and security are important for the residents and staff of nursing homes and so a core concern for us. Our service takes every necessary step to keep your privacy protected.
Consent
Face scanner
As per the GDPR, our services require consent to be given by the nursing home staff and the nursing home residents before they are deployed. If a resident is unwilling to give their consent for our systems, they can safely and securely use the lock system without the use of the face scanner but only the RFID scanner.
Face recognition is only performed locally with no information about the person scanned being stored aside from their likeness which is used to recognise if they are at the right door.
Due to safety concerns, under the circumstances of a resident struggling to enter a room, a nurse will be notified of the specific door. The information the nurses receive only extends to the location of the resident, with no CCTV function or data about themselves.
Exercising your rights
As a resident of a nursing home, you can opt out of the service at any point by informing the nursing home staff of your decision. This will remove your facial likeness stored in our locking system and you will be given an RFID tag specific to your door lock.
As a nursing home, you can cancel our service by logging into your account through the mobile application or this website and clicking “Terminate Contract”
at the bottom of the page. Doing so will deactivate the locks’ RFID and face scanners, leaving the doors to function as normal unlocked doors. You may also contact us at support@aegis.com if you need assistance with the process or have additional questions. Our technicians will take the steps needed to remove the system from the doors by the next working day and replace the locks with standard locks.
